This cat is dying to play with these mice...though not the way they would like.
This is for Missey, my friend's gray tabby who must go in to the vet tomorrow and get her ingrown claw pulled out the pad of her foot. I'm sure she would much rather be chasing little rodents around!
Also a HUGE thank you to the talented Lesley over at
Painter's Blog for her suggestion to dilute the ink for background sections of my illustrations. Thanks so much! I tried it on this one and am thrilled with the results. I'm going to actually look on
Dickblick.com and see if I can find a gray ink for the same purpose.

Some very nice experiments in creating depth Paige. I really liked effect on the pizza illustration especially. The foreground characters really stood out nicely :) Humbled once again by your productivity... I am crumbling under deadline stress for a Sept. book and haven't touched anything extra curricular in weeks. Keep up the great work!
Lovely illustration. I especially like the explosive pink! Will you share the background technique? Love your style. :)Especially like the expression on the grey mouse's face.
I break for cheese! Hillarious!

I love the expressions on all the faces. What a fun piece for play!
You make every day a BEAUTIFUL day with your shiny spirit and delightful whimsy! Three cheers for you. Let's Play!
LO-VE-LY!
very very cute! love those mice!
This is fun and whimsical! I really want a shirt that says "I brake for cheese" as I'm such a cheese fan that I'm sometimes called a mouse. Really nicely done!
Ha! I could live in this little world, and shhh, I break for cheese too! I love this Paige!
love the look on the cats face priceless. very cute and playful illo
This is so fun and the cat's expression is great :)
I love the way the cat is licking its chops...mmmm...3 mice would make a good snack! I really like the greys and pinks together, and the touches of yellow and orange add the perfect accent. Hope the kitty's trip to the vet went well:>
I love the "I Break for Cheese" tshirt!
Paige, you're too kind! I'm glad you liked my suggestion. I think it's worked great here - I love your illustration. It's such an amazing talent you have. I wish I could create scenes from my imagination.
This is very well done! I also love the fact that the cat looks just like my cat, Simon. Nice job!
I love the mousy industry in the face of adversity – that is not a small play to put on such a brave face. Hope your friend’s cat will be well soon.
