In Color - Raj Test Painting

Well I got to bed and woke up at 4:30 am with creative energies that kept me from falling back asleep. I knew it had something to do with the drawing left unpainted on my desk. Was it going to come out alright? Would I be able to get the sunlit room effect I was hoping for? At last I got up and worked from 5 am - 7 am to complete it, felt happy with the results and finally fell back into a much more restful slumber. I can post these without any copyright issues since they aren't going to end up in the book.

I've been really drawn(no pun intended) to pen/ink and watercolor illustrations lately so I'll probably test that type of style out as well.

I really like the way the characters stand out in the midst of what's going on in the background. That's not easy to do.Great job, Paige!

Thanks Phyllis! I'm still not sure what direction I want to go with this book style wise, but this time around no matter what the style, I want to try to be more adventurous with how I use color. Especially by using a limited palette and dark and light colors to convey depth/mood.

Eric thanks so much for the comment on my drawing - I'm so happy to hear that!

I really like this style (as you know!) and I think this illustration came out wonderfully! I love the colors, the light coming in the window, and how you handled the shadows. I'm already in love with Raj!
