Aw, Darn it

I stayed up until 4am again. Maybe one day I'll wake up at the crack of dawn and fall blissfully asleep at 11 pm on a regular basis......(I've been saying that to myself for years now, yet I still want to believe.....).

Creative energy: alive during the night, and non-existent during the day/slowly starts to show itself early evening. Why? Why??

Ok must sleep.

Wah.

Just take what you can get!! If the muse comes at night, well, at least she comes! (Right now, with school starting and all, I am reduced to writing in smallish 20 minute chunks. difficult for imagining big things. Adequate only for strange bits and pieces.)

Good Luck....and sleep!

Haha Shelley, you're absolutely right! I should take what I can get - all of August and half of September there was no muse at all (from being extremely busy with life-stuff). She had gone out the back door leaving muddy footprints on my carpet and a post-it saying, 'Don't hate me.'

I will be thinking of you as my alarm clock goes off at 3 a.m. tomorrow. ;)

I am more creative at night too but I have to hit the pillow by midnight....tonight will be a bit earlier.

Mine always hits early in the morning, goes away around 11am and doesn't come back until evening.

I wish you could turn on the muse like a light switch, whenever you have time for it! It seems to know when the worst time to come is.

Glad to hear someone else works well at such hours! My best time for creativity starts late afternoon and peaks between the hours of midnight and 3am - it's been like that for years...Maybe it's because things are quieter and there are less distractions around at that time - I don't know? I do know it is not conducive to family life!!If I had the choice I would miss out mornings completely (ie sleep through them), start the day around midday and go to bed around 3-4am.

I was actually able to get to sleep around 12:30 am last night hooray! I'll see how this goes....I'm thinking that a better schedule might give me more energy and make me more productive. I think you're right though Mary, it's the lack of distraction during those grave yard shift hours. If I start losing my muse though I'm going right back to my old schedule immediately.
