Illustration Friday : Open

It's almost Halloween! Open wide and ROAR.

Boy have I been away from the drawing table too long. Drawing is like breathing for me, when I don't draw I feel like I'm holding my breath. It was nice to finally exhale.

While it is clear this is a watercolor, the subtle blending in the color seems to defy the medium in the most pleasant of fashions.

So much detail. Incredible.

You know I love everything you do! I love how the dog is having fun and not scared at all. Beautiful colors, and I also like that the room in the back is just suggested, all the details are in the characters on the foreground.

This is adorable! I know what you mean about waiting to "exhale" (paint, draw etc.) Happens to me too!

nice and funny. I like the way the doggy is totally not afraid. And the wall is just beautiful.

I agree, there is nothing you create that i don't like either!

This is sweet.

Regarding return to drawing, I totally agree with you. It's like a drink of cold water on a hot day :-)

I like how you balanced the light with the two figures. Nice job.

Great illustration. Love the colors...especially using the yellow in the kitchen. Gives me a sense of the time of day.... I'm imagining the evening after dinner. Maybe, he's practicing for the big night!! I think that's what a great illustration should do... make the viewer create (or add to) a story.

Also, makes me want to be a kid again...

Nice work!

Hi Paige. Really love your style, I check your blog a lot. I'm glad you started posting again...:o)

Love this! Love that purple background against the green of the costume. And the dogs face it's just so cute! With the little hairs standing up, he, he...

When are you posting another of those videos of yours? Love to see you paint.

What a great take on the theme. I think the boy and dog have played this game before.

So great! The special touches, like the dog's excitement despite the boy's best efforts, are priceless and make this work so well! Like Monica, I too love the suggested room in the background - that works well! This is just so fun and cute all around! Love it!
