Illustration Friday : Wedding

For "W is for wedding" I knew that the usual star of a wedding is the bride, but I didn't want her to be the star of my 'story'. The little boy and the mouse were the main actors, so I placed focus on them with darker colors, while leaving the bride almost void of color and very sketchy. I had a lot of fun with this one - a welcome change from some creative struggling I've run into this week.

As a non-illustrator, I love hearing your tidbits about why you did certain things in your illustrations.

Wonderful...once again!

sometimes the side stories at weddings are more interesting than the nuptials themselves. Good Job.

Cheeky little varment, as if the boy wasn't mortified enough!

It's beautiful Paige! I love that you made the boy and the mouse the most important thing in the picture.

This is terrific - you've definitely made him the star of this mini-drama. Adorable characters as always - love it!

You can tell it was fun, it's really charming and wonderfully drawn and painted.

Precious! I love that little mouse! Speaking of a mouse and a wedding, when the photographer at my wedding moved one of the steps leading to the altar so I could stand on it in front of all the groomsmen, there was a DEAD MOUSE underneath it! At least this mouse is alive (and cute) and not stinking up the wedding! :)

This is lovely, Paige! I love how you explain your creative process and how you work on getting the "story" right. Seeing your illo, it makes perfect sense and it's such a great technique.
Your characters are always so expressive and absolutely lovable!
