Priceless. I can relate only my bike is a drawing board. The colors and the texture and the pose are the sweetest!!!

Hey Paige...it's been TOO long...hope all is well??

Love this illustration...What a sweetie he is!...I just love how you approach your subjects...there's a sensitivity and sense of peace and joy that comes through in your characters...and yet they avoid coming across as sappy. It's a nice balance and makes your work so very appealing!

It was good to pop in and see what's new...I'll be around more since I'm doing illustration full time now. Looking forward to staying in touch...

I love this little guy. Since I'm such a newbee, I have to ask.. Did you scan in your sketch first and print it on watercolor paper? Then paint it? Because watercolor paper is so rough, my pencil &/or ink linework seems to bounce around...making mush. I can't keep it clean. I love the freshness of your illos. thanks so much...

Thanks everyone!

Hi Diane, for this piece I actually did all the sketching right on the cold press paper. Not the easiest way to draw with all the bumps and smearing but it was a scrap piece of paper and I was feeling impatient lol. What's easiest is to do all your sketching/planning on regular paper (some people layer pieces of tissue paper for this stage, but I just use scrap typing paper). Then when you're happy with your drawing, use a light box to transfer the drawing to watercolor paper. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks, paige it does help! I never knew you could see through watercolor paper. I tried it last night. Worked great. I've been using transfer paper and then my initial sketch is basically ruined. Thanks again.
