Red Riding Hood

I like this slightly updated version of Red Riding Hood. Red is checking her watch and hurrying through the woods like she's a business woman in New York city. This was fun to do - I wanted something that was classic, but still a little different.

Illustration Friday Theme: Surprise

Dennis West thought of this poem for my illustration.  I've decided to post it--thanks Dennis!

XIV - Where Go the Boats?

Dark brown is the river,
Golden is the sand.
It flows along for ever,
With trees on either hand.

Green leaves a-floating,
Castles of the foam,
Boats of mine a-boating--
Where will all come home?

On goes the river
And out past the mill,
Away down the valley,
Away down the hill.

Away down the river,
A hundred miles or more,
Other little children
Shall bring my boats ashore.

-Robert Louis Stevenson

Blue Dragon, Blue Tear

Illustration Friday Theme:Blue

Some Dragon Sketches

I do almost all my sketches on typing paper. I like the bright white color and prefer the lightness of the paper. It makes me feel less like I have to "nail it" the first time for some reason....such strange mental blocks artists put on themselves ..... :0)

The Little Primper

Well, I have a feeling this is going to be way too late for illustration Friday this week (so I didn't post this on the IF site), but the theme (Small) inspired a drawing nonetheless, and that's what matters, right?

BTW Harry Potter 4 was very good! Lots darker than the first two, and even the third. I loved the dance scene, and the issue of Harry and Ron finding a date. Hilarious! Snape lived up to my expectations as always. He's one of my favorite characters in the movies (not the books though, he seems much darker and meaner in the books).

Under The Weather

Sorry I've been away from my blog, I've been a bit sick. I'll be back in full force soon though. Meanwhile, I'll get back in bed, watch some movies, read some Calvin And Hobbes books. It shouldn't be too bad :0)

Here's a new sketch I was working on before the "ickies" hit. It's an illustration of the Mother Goose Rhyme "Little Boy Blue." Still in its rough stages...

Illustration Friday Theme: Strength

One of my earliest memories is of running away from a spoon full of bubble gum flavored antibiotic for a bad ear infection.

Crikey!

I love drawing bossy kids and light-hats.

Picnic

Okay...One More Tonight

Okay, I know I said the one below would be the last Country Cat, City Kitty entry, but I really like this one, so here is the REAL last image.

My wrists are getting better again, so comments are back up and I can reply :0) I miss reading those when they're gone!

Welcome To My New Digs

Well after noting some vast improvements in the posting interface of Blogger, I've decided to join up. First of all, it's free (!!) And second, Typepad is going through some growing pains and I really don't have the patience to wait it out. Typepad has excellent tech-help though, and if I were a good designer (which I'm not) I would take full advantage of their design-it-yourself interface. But this simple template with my soon-to-come banner will suit me just fine.

I'm going to keep Typepad for a couple more months while I transfer my archives to my hard drive and figure out what the heck to do with them. I'm also leaving it up so regular readers don't suddenly find my blog gone without a trace.

So thanks for everyone's patience during the "move" --moving is never fun, even when it's a digital one.

Above is the last of the Country Cat, City Kitty sneak peaks before it goes to press sometime next year. In this scene City Kitty has had about enough of the country and wants to "Run awaaaaay! Run awaaaaay" -Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I'm still trying to come up with a good banner! Hmm.... It will come to me...I hope.
