It may take a second to see the mysterious element of the illustration...but there's a story behind it. When I was kid, around ten or eleven, I saw a movie entitled Critters. Not a hugely popular movie, more like a B horror film. It happened to be on HBO one night, and reminded me a little of Gremlins because there were these little red-eyed critters that terrorized people. Anyways, there is a scene where someone is in the kitchen washing dishes late at night. The camera pans in towards the pitch black window, and two little red eyes appear staring at the mother of a family. Oh my goodness did that give me the willies! From then on, at night when I'm washing dishes, that scene sometimes crosses my mind, along with (my overly active imagination) the thought of someone or something staring in at me from that pitch black window in the kitchen. :0) BOO!

Oooh! I know this feeling. I have a similar fear of seeing two red glowing eyes looking back at me through the dark when I look out of a window at night. I think mine originated from one of the Amityville horror films, where if I recall correctly, they appear at an upstairs window... I try not to watch horror films now as I tend to get spooked and jumpy!
Actually had someone outside our window in the dark, there was a bang and the branches moved and footsteps in the mud. Never moved so fast in my life.
ha! I love this! I remember watching bad scary movies as a kid and freaking out! Cute piggie!
What ever it is, it looks like it likes cookies. fun story for the image too.
How cute, love the illustrations. Reminds me of how I loved to read as a kid just to see the pictures.

Lol! I remember that movie. It's always creepy to me to look out a window of pitch black and see only my reflection...too many horror movies,:)
At least you've added some charm and took the fright element out! :)

Oh my goodness! I had a problem with Easter eggs for years after watching that movie! Loving your illustrations as always Paige.
