I'm just thinking, and sorry if I'm butting in a bit. You don't have to listen to me, just and idea..
Maybe you can add something in that puddle, a reflection of some sort, something odd. Perhaps the doggie has a reflection but the boy doesn't. Or he sees a reflection waving back at him.. something to tell a story. Because I really think this image is so interesting. The way you posed your characters is amazing!
Then I would paint it and send it out as a postcard asap! :o)
