Mean Ol' Borris

I only had enough time to take a quick picture of this in low light - I'll replace with a better scan a bit later today.

New Story, New Character Sketches

I just finished writing a picture book manuscript over Christmas break so am now at the stage of figuring out what the characters are going to look like. Oh, and by the way, I've learned that I love drawing penguins! Those charming, doughy little creatures can be so expressive.

Small Website Update

I made a little animated GIF with the sketches in the post below and added it to the front page of my main website: paigekeiser.com

Or you can see it right here--you have to click on the image to see the actual animation:

A Page From the Sketchbook

Trying to get in a habit of sketching more. It can't help but improve the ol' drawing skills, right?

Dang....

Well, I got away with not putting comment approvals on my blog for quite a while, but now after waking up to a good 20 different spam posts by the same person I guess I'm going to have to use that feature. It was so pleasant to spend the first half of my morning going through and deleting those one by one. Thank you, whoever you are. I'm guessing you found a big ol' lump of coal in your stocking this past Christmas for being on Santa's Naughty list.

So...comment approvals....*click*. Sorry in advance for the inconvenience this may cause my wonderful readers. I did, however, remove the word verification thingy since I will be moderating them, so that at least will be a little easier.

These kitty sketches reflect well how I felt this morning lol!

Wow It's A Cow!

It's countdown time! Wow It's a Cow is being release January 1st! Click here to nab yourself a copy of this very adorable lift-the-flap book.

p.s. I'll include a better scan when I receive the book - this one is a little muddy looking for some reason, but it's the only online image I have at the moment.

Olly In The Snow

Illustration Friday: Undone

When George's jacket zipper refused to come undone an epic battle ensued....which culminated in the call for backup.

New Book!

So, art for Raj the Bookstore Tiger is in transit right now to Charlesbridge publishing company and will see a release date in in Fall of 2010! On my plate now is an adorable and sweet book written by Michelle Medlock Adams, called How Much Does God Love You, for Guidepost publishing. And a hilarious book for Dutton entitled Baby Moose Visits, written by Linda Glaser. I'm enjoying both these books immensely!

I'm a Little Behind on Email

Just thought I would leave a post and say that I am slowly catching up on emails/facebook messages. I respond at a turtle's pace because typing kills my wrist when I answer more than two medium length emails a day--so you can see how that would make me get further and further behind. I promise though I will answer them as quickly as I can and I'm sorry for the delay! :0)

Thankfully drawing and painting does NOT pose a problem unless I try to do way too much in one day.

Back in the Saddle

Sorry about the long break, I just finished up two books that were very close together and just needed some time away from drawing. My paints and brushes are calling for me again though and now I'm much more refreshed!
